Hamida Ali Hazara, a courageous and compassionate woman, opened a restaurant in Quetta's Hazara Town to help female victims of violence against the Shia-Hazara minority community. Her vision was simple yet powerful: to provide a safe space where women could work, earn, and rebuild their lives after enduring profound losses. However, what began as an altruistic project quickly became a lightning rod for controversy and danger.

In addition to the restaurant, Hamida founded the Hurmatty Niswa Foundation, an NGO dedicated to financially assisting women in need. Through this foundation, she sought to empower women by offering them the tools and support needed to stand on their own feet, rather than relying on charity. Despite her noble efforts, the restaurant became the target of intense scrutiny and hostility, leading to harassment and even an attempt on her life. The situation escalated to the point where her restaurant was forcibly closed, a testament to the dangers she bravely confronted.

Zoral Naik was commissioned by Roads & Kingdoms to photograph Hamida's day in life, capturing the strength and resilience of a woman determined to make a difference. The story, written by Sama Faruqi, sheds light on the complexities of Hamida’s journey, the challenges faced by the Hazara community, and the indomitable spirit that drives her to continue fighting for her people.
